MY TRAINING PHILOSOPHY

01 — Is Centered On Progression & Prevention

Pushing yourself too hard and too quickly usually leads to injury. We will work to be proactive by focusing on all aspects of training, including outside of running, that make up the big picture. Some of these include flexibility, mobility, strengthening, stabilization, core, etc. These are all vital to building a stronger and more well-rounded runner and will help you to reach your goals and optimal potential, while minimizing the risk of injury to maintain healthy and fun training.

02 — Builds A Supportive Coach-Athlete Relationship

I believe in developing good communication, while building a supportive coach/athlete relationship. This way I will be able to understand you as an athlete and a person, allowing me to best guide your athletic development. I will help you strive to achieve attainable goals through consistent training. Keep in mind that you have to do the work and most importantly, never put limits upon yourself.

03 — Starts Where You Are

I believe in starting from where you are, versus where you want to be. First, we will focus on building your aerobic base, through volume and easy running, as well as strides which will help improve running economy. After base and economy building, we will work to sharpen and focus, with workouts and race strategies, based on your goals.

I have extensive experience, ideas and understanding through working with a wide range of athletes of different levels and ages. If there is something I cannot answer, I am connected with a team of associates I can bring in for advice, including referrals for a Chiropractor, Registered Dietitian, Orthopedic/foot doctor, Physical Therapist or Massage Therapist. We will work together, learn a lot and explore what works best for you to help you reach your peak performance!

WHO DOES COACH ERICA WORK WITH?

It doesn’t matter what level you’re starting at, you just need to be two things:

  1. Coachable - Are you ready to learn and take constructive feedback?

  2. Committed - What are your goals and how dedicated are you to achieving them?

If you’re willing to put in the time and are eager to learn, we’ll see results.

In the past, I’ve worked with:

  • Athletes ranging from ages 5 through 65, who have either Boston Qualified, set personal records, won races, or won their age group.

  • State-class High School athletes who have gone on to compete at the NCAA Division I and II levels.

  • Athletes who started off racing 5Ks at 13-minutes per mile and within 6-8 months brought it down to 6- 7-minutes per mile, plus speed workouts in the 5-minute range!

In running; training and competing, you get out of it what you put into it. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it. So why not stand out? Why not do something great?!

If you have a goal you wish to achieve and set your mind to it, with guidance and motivation, my goal is to help you get there safely and happily!
